PURPOSE:To reduce the repairing cost of a DC rotary electric machine by mixing electrically conductive metal and graphite to form a brush contacted under pressure with a commutator in such a manner that the mixing ratios of the positive electrode and the negative electrode sides are different, thereby equalizing the wearing amounts between the positive electrode side brush and the negative electrode side brush. CONSTITUTION:Positive and negative electrode side brushes 8 and 9 contacted under pressure with a commutator 7 are formed by mixing electrically conductive metal and graphite. In this case, the mixing ratios of the metal and the graphite are separately selected to equalize the wearing amounts between the positive electrode side brush and the negative electrode side brush.
