Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the abrasion of brushes and flashover by a method wherein a plurality of brushes having various contact resistance value are provided and arranged by shifting each of them in the rotary direction of a commutator and sparks generated between the brushes and the commutator are controlled. CONSTITUTION:A low contact resistance brush 1 and high contact resistance brushes 2 are provided and arranged by shifting them before and behind the rotary direction 6 of a commutator 3 for sliding with commutator segment 3. In this way, the occurrence of sparks generated immediately before contacting the low contact resistance brush 1 with the commutator segments 3 and those generated when separating the brush 1 from the commutator segments 3 can be controlled by the high contact resistance brushes 2 and the life of brushes will be lengthened.
