Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the picture quality of a polychromatic display panel of a huge size and halve the optimum visible distance of captioned device, by dividing the luminescent surface of a cathode-ray tube into two parts, said surface being a picture element of the cathode-ray tube for a luminous source, and using a method of emitting two kinds of elementary colors by means of only one cathode-ray tube. CONSTITUTION:The captioned device is composed of each cathode-ray tube 31 and 32 respectively for indicating green and red/green and blue. Even if the mounting pitch of respective cathode-ray tube is left as it is, a visible distance can be halved, and red color and green color can be constructed closely to each other, accordingly a clear picture can be obtained even for a yellow color. In such a cathode-ray tube as shown in the figure, the internal luminescent surface of a face part at the end of a vacuum enclosure 1 is divided into two parts in order to install the luminescent surfaces 2a and 2b of two different kinds of luminous colors so that the cathode-ray tube may be so constructed as capable of radiating an electron beam over the nearly whole surface of respective surfaces 2a and 2b and said tube radiates non-focusing electron beams 10a and 10b from the position facing said surfaces 2a and 2b.
