Abstract
PURPOSE:To attempt to have long stability of output signal and improvement of sensitivity to electric current detection by giving twist the value of which is over a specified value to a optical fiber of single mode in order to reduce susceptibility to external disturbances and so on. CONSTITUTION:A coil 2 of conductive material through which an electric current to be measured flows is wound around an optical fiber 1 of single mode and at the same time this optical fiber 1 is given mechanical twist. On the other hand, the light from He-Ne laser 3 is irradiated to the optical fiber 1 through a polarizing element 4 and an objective lens 5, and the light emitted from the optical fiber 1 is arrived at a light detector 7 through an analyser 6 to measusre the electric current I. With this arrangement, purity of straight polarization can be improved by the twist in the fiber and the flicker in light signal can be reduced.
