Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain excellent sealing effect even if clamping surface pressure is low by laminating a surface material composition obtained through blending a powdered water-swellable material with a gasket raw material constituted in a specific ratio, on both surfaces of a core material composition obtained through blending a water-swellable material with said gasket raw material. CONSTITUTION:A gasket raw material is obtained by blending a fibrous material of 50-90wt% with a rubber material of 10-50wt%, and a core material composition 1 is formed by blending a fibrous water-insoluble water-swellable material with said gasket raw material. Moreover, a powdered water-insoluble water-swellable material is blended with the same gasket raw material to form a surface material composition 2, and said composition 2 is laminated on the surface of the core material composition 1. Further, a natural or synthetic hydrophilic water-insoluble high polymer that contains a nonionic hydrophilic group such as a hydroxyl group, or an ionic group such as a carboxyl group, sulfonic group and amino group or salt thereof is used as the water-swellable material described the above.
