Abstract
PURPOSE:To allow to prevent engine stopping at the clutch meet time, fumbling at the starting of vehicle and change over shock, by quickly shifting the engine from the state of the idling cylinder operation (partial cylinder operation) to the state of all cylinder operation at the time of starting the vehicle. CONSTITUTION:Provided that each cylinder is operated or idled by making the suction and exhaust valves operating device arbitrally brought in operative or inoperative condition, by a valve operation stopping device including hydraulic change over valve 44; the control device 62 is composed of the first control circuit 64 which decides selection of either idling the cylinder or all cylinder operation in accordance with the load of the engine, and the second control circuit 66 which issues a command of all cylinder operation command of in the case of the vehicle starting regardless the command of cylinder idling operation issued from the said circuit 64. And the second control circuit 66 is so constituted that the selector 70 will be changed over to the all cylinder operation command circuit 68 thorugh the hold circuit 74, when the starting detection circuit 76, to which signals from idle detection device 80, transmission select switch 82 and vehicle speed detection device 84 are inputted, detects the vehicle starting time.
