Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent trouble in regard to the edge line of a steel band caused by fluctuation of width of a steel-band and to decrease the stop-down time of a production line of half, by controlling the passing speed of steel sheet, based on a sheet-width detecting value and a speed pattern of steel band, when both edges of steel band are trimmed off to form a predetermined width. CONSTITUTION:A sheet-width detecting signal W from a width gauge 21 to detect the width of a steel-band is fed into a memory unit 22. The trim value DELTAW(=W-W0) of every moment based on the predetermined thickness of sheet t1 is calculated, time to time, in the memory unit 22, and the most suitable sheet passing speed V0 at the moment is determined from the speed pattern. Here, W0 represents the predetermined width of a sheet. Then, the speed V0 is fed into a comparator 23 where the most suitable sheet passing speed V0 is compared with a sheet passing speed V from a rotating gauge PG, interconnected with a motor M3 which drives a side-trimming unit 13, the speed error signal DELTAV(=V0-V) is calculated, and these error signals DELTAV are fed into each motor M3, M4, and M5, respectively, compensating the sheet passing speed V at the moment, as a result, the trouble which may be caused by edge lines can be prevented.
