In this state, the on-line work executed by a faulty terminal equipment can be executed continuously without operating the host machine, by issuing a substitute command to the terminal controller 3 by operating the keyboard, and mutually substituting a physical number indicating the faulty terminal equipment on the logical/physical converting table of the equipment number, and a physical number indicating the terminal equipment which has issued the substitute command.
