PURPOSE:To perform accurate tuning discrimination by counting the difference between an intermediate and a reference frequency signal. CONSTITUTION:A frequency mixing circuit 3 mixes the reference frequency signal fR outputted from a reference frequency generating circuit 4 with the intermediate frequency signal fIF from an intermediate frequency amplifying circuit 2, and then outputs the difference frequency signal ¦fIF-fR¦ to a frequency counting circuit 5. The frequency counting circuit 5 consists of a gate time generating circuit 7 which decides on the time when the frequency of the input signal is counted, a gate 8 which controls the passing of the input signal in accordance with said gate time, and a counting circuit 9 which counts the output of the gate 8 and outputs the counting result K to an auto search stop discriminating circuit 6. The auto search stop discriminating circuit 6 discriminates whether a tuner 1 is in a tuning state or not on the basis of the counting result K of the circuit 5 and, when so, generates and sends an auto search stop signal S to the tuner 1.
