Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide outstanding secondary paint adhesiveness by forming metallic chromium on a steel plate through cathodic electrolysis, activating the entire part thereof by anodization and sticking uniform chromium oxide hydrate thereon.
CONSTITUTION: A metallic chromium layer and a chromium oxide hydrate layer are formed on the surface of a steel plate by electrolyzing the steel plate cathodically by an electrolyte for electrolytic chromating, etc. It is anodized in an electrolyte contg. 1 or ≥2 kinds of alkali salt and ammonium salt of chromic anhydride and alkali salt and ammonium salt of dichromatic acid and contg. these at about ≥2g/l in terms of chromium at 0.5W8.0Coulomb/dm2 and about 80°C, whereby the chromium oxide hydrate layer is prepd. Further, it is electrolyzed cathodically in an electrolyte of 1W4wt% (based on the weight of CrO3) fluorine concn. contg. 5W250g/l chromic anhydride at about 30W80°C liquid temps.
