Abstract
PURPOSE: To digest and decompose composite waste gases contg. hydrocarbons by microbes and to purify said gases economically with low pressure drops by introducing odors into a microbe-stuck bed formed by circulating and spraying microbe-contg. sludge water to water permeable filter media.
CONSTITUTION: Water and sludge are supplied from a sludge suplly part 5 and water and sludge water from a water spary part 4 to the water permeable filter media 3 supported in a filter bed part 1. The excess sludge water falls into an air diffusion tank 2 held aerobically by provision of a bubbling device 15, where said water is stored. The sludge settling and accumulating in the bottom part is released to the outside of the system through a pump 12 and a valve B2, and part thereof is fed to the part 5 through a pipe P2. The supernatant in the tank 2 is kept supplied constantly through a filter 9 to the part 4. The concns. of the sludge and the sludge water are controlled by the makeup of the water through a pipe P4. If necessary, a valve B0 is opened, and microbes or nutrients are replenished from a replenishing tank 7. Waste gases are introduced through an intake port P8 and their odorous components and hydrocarbons are decomposed by the microbes of the filter bed surfaces, whereby the gases are purified. The purified gases are discharged through a discharge port P7.
