Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the fuel efficiency and exhaust properties, by providing two intake valves and two exhaust value and providing a squish region near the intake valves so that the part of a combustion chamber near the exhaust valves is larger than the other part. CONSTITUTION:Two intake valves 3 and two exhaust valves 2 are provided for the combustion chamber 12 of an internal combustion engine. A squish protrusion 7A is provided on the top of a piston 7 under the intake valves 3. The exhaust valves 2 are located above the ceiling 11. As a result, stable combustion is assured and the quantity of emitted hydrocarbon at high concentration is reduced even if a thin mixture is burned. The fuel efficiency and exhaust properties are thus improved.
