Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain crater current upon ending of welding by inserting the other resistor having normally closed contacts which can be opened and closed by signals as by-pass in series to the resistor inserted in series to the excitation coil of a DC power generator. CONSTITUTION:An engine driven type DC welding machine 41 which welds the work 11 by generating an arc between a W electrode 9 and the work under controlling of a TIG welding controller 17 thereby melting a filler bar 12 containes a power generator 2 and a rectifier 7 which supply welding power, and a power generator 4 and a rectifier 5 which supply the excitation current of the generator 2 and the electric power for control circuits. When a torch switch 28 is first pushed, an inert gas is supplied from a cylinder 13 to a torch 10, and the arc is generated by the controller 17, after which regular current for welding is flowed. Upon ending of the welding, normally closed contacts 43 are opened by a solenoid switch 44 in accordance with the signal of a control circuit 25, then the excitation current decreases by passing through a resistor 42, by which the electric power generated by the generator 2 is decreased and the crater current is obtained.
