Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect failures with a simple device, without the provision of an exclusive failure detecting circuit, by a transmission and reception circuit which detects a failure on a communication line and transmits a predetermined logical signal to an upward device in place of the received binary signal according to the communication state of the data communication line. CONSTITUTION:Outputs of a non-current detecting circuit 8 provided at transmission and reception circuits 3-1'-3-n' of a telegraphic exchanger 1 are applied to a selection circuit 12 installed newly. This circuit 12 transmits the logical value 1 or 0 from a level conversion circuit 7 to a calling detection circuit 10 via a reception data line RD without any modification unless the logical value 1 is applied from the circuit 8. The logical value 1 or 0 received from an exchange processing circuit 9 via a transmission data line SD is transmitted to a transmission line SL. When the circuit 8 detects a non-current state and transmits the logical value 1 to the circuit 12, the circuit 12 transmits the logical value 1 received from a logical value designating line CB in place of the logical value 0 from the circuit 7 to the circuit 10 and the exchanger 1 can detect the failure without using a failure detection circuit.
