Abstract
PURPOSE:To ensure an assured attachment of an optical fiber without imparing the circumference surface of the optical fiber, by connecting two ferrule split pieces having grooves to hold a linear material such as the optical fibers into a body via a hinge part. CONSTITUTION:A ferrule 1 contains two split pieces 1a and 1a made of a synthetic resin. These pieces 1a are connected to each other at the lower edge part via a hinge part 1b formed in a body with the pieces 1a. The pieces 1a are closed to each other by beinding the part 1b. A semicolumnar holding groove 1c is formed to each piece 1a, and a cylindrical hole is formed when both pieces 1a are closed to each other to hold a linear material like an optical fiber, etc. A rib 1d having a triangular section protrudes on the inner wall surface of the groove 1c, and the rib 1d presses the circumference surface of the linear material when the pieces 1a are closed together in order to prevent the drop-off of the linear material. Then an optical fiber 2 is put into the holes 1c and 1c and inserted and pressed to the taper inner surface of the sleeve touching the outer surface 1c of the taper. Thus the fiber 2 can be fixed.
