Abstract
PURPOSE:To keep durability of a cooling fan and to prevent drop of cooling efficiency by preventing reduction of air flow rate, by employing such an arrangement that the width of a ring connecting the tops of fan blades is 1/4- 3/4 to the height of a boss portion. CONSTITUTION:When a cooling fan 1 is turned, oblique air flow as shown by arrows in the drawing is produced by the function of inclination of a boss portion 2 and distortion of blades 4. In this connection, the width l of a ring 5 connecting the tops of each blade 4 is selected to be so small that it is 1/4- 3/4 to the height h of the boss portion 2. By employing such an arrangement, it is enabled to keep strength and durability of the cooling fan 1 as a whole. Further, since a hollow space having a particular width is formed on the opposite side of the tips of the blades 4, i.e., on the downstream side of the above oblique air flow, restriction to the oblique air flow imposed by the ring 5 when air flows radially of the blades 4 can be minimized. Therefore, it is enabled to prevent reduction of air flow rate and drop of cooling efficiency of the fan.
