Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the overheating of an engine when any trouble occurs by controlling the rotational speed of the water pump in accordance with the output of each of sensers, and further when any trouble occurs, an electrically driven fan sending cooling air to the engine is actuated. CONSTITUTION:An engine cooling device passes cooling water which has been cooled by a radiator 3 through respective water jackets within the cylinder block 4 and the cylinder head 5, and the cooling water is returned back to the radiator 3 through a thermostat 6. A water pump 7 is interposed within the cooling water passage constituted in this manner. In this case, a temperature senser 12 which detects the engine temperature is provided, and is connected to the controller 9 which controls the driving device 8 so that the rotational speed of the above pump 7 is reduced or the rotation thereof is stopped, when the engine is at the low temperature. Further, this controller 9 has a function to detect the abnormal condition by a rotation signal of the electrically driven motor 11, and when the abnormal condition is detected, the electrically driven fan 13 and an alarming device 14 are actuated.
