Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent pieces of a glass bottle caused by rupture from being scattered, by blending a urethane coating compound of the liquid non-solvent type with a specific polyhydric alcohol, an aliphatic polyisocyanate, and a specified catalyst for curing in specific ratios, covering the surface of a glass bottle with it, followed by curing.
CONSTITUTION: A urethane coating compound of the liquid non-solvent type is blended with (A) a polyhydric alcohol containing ≥20wt% polyether polyol and/or polyester polyol having a molecular weight of 300W4,000, (B) and aliphatic polyisocyanate and/or alicyclic polyisocyanate, and (C) a curing catalyst shown by the formula. In blending ratios of each component, 1 equivalent hydroxyl group of the component A is blended with 0.5W2.0 equivalent -NCO group of the component B, and the amount of the component C is 0.01W5wt% based on the component A. The surface of a glass bottle which is previously subjected to surface treatment with a silane coupling agent containing ≥0.2wt% amino group-containing silane coupling agent is covered with this coating compound in a thickness of about 100W600μ, and the coating compound is cured.
