PURPOSE:To improve safety of a door, by such constitution that a light transmission medium, consisting of light emitting and receiving parts, is arranged to the peripheral edge part of a door and door opening in a car body of an automobile and a door driving gear is stopped or inverted when a quantity of transmitted light is decreased. CONSTITUTION:At closing operation of a door, unless passenger's hand or the like is held between the door and car body, an optical fiber 25 holds normal shape, and light of a light emitting part 41 is received by a light receiving part 43 without being reduced not to cause excitation of a coil 39 in a relay 35 by a control unit, then an electric current flows in a driving gear 11 to reversely rotate the driving gear 11. However, a hand or the like is interposed, the optical fiber 25 is deformed by a portion 21a of a web strip 21 to reduce a quantity of received light to the light receiving part 43. This reduction of light is detected by a control part 37 to turn off the relay 35. Accordingly, the driving gear 11 is not electrically conducted and the door is not closed. In this way, safety of the door can be improved.
