Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a wiper from being actuated so that damage to the wiper is prevented, by detecting the opening of a windshield so that the wiper is automatically stopped in a predetermined stopping position by using the signal indicating the opening of the windshield. CONSTITUTION:A roller guide 3 is arranged in a retainer for a windshield and is connected with a lift arm 10 and an equalizer arm 7, the lift arm 10 being also connected with a motor 28 for opening and closing the windshield through gear wheels 17, 19. Further, a limit switch 23 is secured to the above-mentioned guide 3, and the shaft of the switch 23 is touched to the equalizer arm 7. If the windshield 1 is opened when a wiper switch 33 is turned on, the limit switch 23 opens its contacts between M and B so that electrical current between M and B is checked. Accordingly, the wiper is operated until the wiper returns to a predetermined position due to the operation of a cam switch 32, and, then, the cam switch 32 is turned so as to engage between the contacts S and E for stopping a motor M since no electrical current is fed to the motor M.
