Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent occurrences of rust on rolled steel plates before annealing, by removing contaminants by blowing high pressure water against steel plates after cold rolling and by producing an oxide film on both surfaces of steel plates by blowing a combustion gas, etc., against them before steel plates are coiled. CONSTITUTION:High pressure water injection nozzles 7, 8 and air wiping injection outlets 9, 10 are installed before and after the final stand 6 in cold rolling lines, and rolling mill oil, abrasion metallic powder, etc., on the surface of steel plate 1 are removed by blowing high pressure water for washing and compressed air against the surface. Then, combustion gas burners 11 and 12 are installed on the line before steel plates are coiled, and an oxide film having approx. <=300Angstrom thickness is formed on both surfaces of steel plates by blowing a combustion gas or a gaseous mixture of a combustion gas and air against both surfaces. In this way, the surface of steel plates 1 after skin pass rolling can be maintained cleanly.
