CONSTITUTION:In the stage of producing a clad material using mild steel as a base material and austenitic stainless steel as a cladding metal by a rolling method, the roughness of the fayed surface of the mild steel base material is controlled to <=80mu Rmax and this is rolled together with the cladding metal of the stainless steel at 1,200-1,300 deg.C and 22-50% draft per pass. The materials are rolled by maintaining the hot rolling under the above-mentioned conditions up to the 3rd-4th passes, whereby the stainless steel clad steel of good press- contac property between the base material and the cladding metal is produced in high product yield.
