Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the current duty of a thyristor in a rectifier when the thyristor is operated in a bypass operation mode by sequentially switching the passages of bypass currents in respective unit rectifiers, thereby uniformly using the passages. CONSTITUTION:Four unit rectifiers Rec1-Rec4 which are respectively made of thyristors T11-T14, T21-T24, T31-T34, T41-T44 connected in single phase bridge are connected in cascade at the series side, and the AC sides of the rectifiers Rec1-Rec4 are connected to different secondary coils of transformers Tr. In the case that one pair of a plurality pairs of thyristors, each of which has two thyristors having a series connection relationship in the respective unit rectifiers are controlled to be simultaneously in conducted state and the thyristor pairs for controlling simultaneously in conductive state are sequentially switched to obtain a bypass operation mode operation, the time of switching the thyristor pair in the respective unit rectifiers of bypass operation is displaced at every unit rectifier.
