Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect <=19% oxygen deficiency states accurately by providing plural pieces of photodetectors of different wavelength sensitivities, and detecting oxygen concns. from the relative values among the outputs of the respective elements. CONSTITUTION:A burner body 1 is provided with an oil tank and a carburettor communicated with this converts liquid kerosene to an evaporating gas. This evaporating gas is burned by a Bunsen type burner. The change in the wavelength of the combustion flame is detected by using a semiconductor color sensor 24. If the relations between the concn. of oxygen and the short-circuiting electric current ratios for colors of different combustion flames are investigated by experiment, it is revealed that until the concn. of oxygen attains 19%, the short-circuiting current ratios are roughly constant and at the concn. of oxygen below this, the current ratios decreased sharply. The two wavelengths detected with the sensor 24 are obtained as a ratio between the outputs of two photodiodes, from which it is detected by a comparator 28 that the oxygen is decreased to <=19%.
