Abstract

PURPOSE:To shorten the length of a measuring conduit by detecting the frequency of the generation of a vortex generated at a conflux point when detecting the flow rate of fluids from two conduits differing in direction. CONSTITUTION:A couple of intrudcing pipes 1 and 2 for introducing fluids to be measured are sectioned rectangularly while having nearly the same area, and are equipped with straightening vanes 3 and 4. At the conflux point of the introducing pipes 1 and 2, several vortex stabilizing plates 6, 7, 8, and 9 for accelerating the generation of vortexes are arranged at prescribed intervals. The plate arranged on the uppermost side is stuck to the pipe wall 5 at said conflux point and the ratio l/h of a vortex stabilizing plate (l) to the width (h) of the pipe wall 5 is set to >=1, stabilizing the generation of vortexs. On the down side of the vortex stabilizing plate 9, periodic vortexes which correspond to the flow speed of the fluid to be measured are generated and the frequency of the generation is detected by vortex detectors 10 and 10'.
