Abstract
PURPOSE: An aquatic organims-encrusting preventive that contains steroid saponin and/or steroid sapogenin, thus showing an effect of leading aquatic organisms such as hard-shelled mussel r barnacle high apparent but low real death.
CONSTITUTION: The objective aquatic organism-encrusting preventive is composed of a steroid saponin such as digitonin, gitonin, tigonin, sarsasaponin, amolonin, kammonin, nolonin and a steroid sapogenin such as digitogenin, gitogenin, or tigogenin, which has activity of repelling aquatic encrusting organisms. This active ingredient is added to a paint, concrete or fiber on use. The amount is more than 1wt% and less than 50%.
EFFECT: The preventive does not destruct biological environment and there is no anxiety of contaminating environment, because it is naturally occurring and readily decomposable.
