Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform error detection by adding binary information corresponding to the total character number in a data block as a block check character(BCC) and comparing the total character number with the BCC at the reception side. CONSTITUTION:A data block is added with a block check character CK1 representing the total character number in a block and a horizontal parity character CK2 is added to a block including the CK1. Further, a vertical parity bit making parity check at each character is added. At the reception side, first the vertical parity check is made from the total number of logic 1 at each character. Next, the horizontal parity check is made from the total number of logic 1 toward the horizontal direction of the reception block. Further, the total character number of the reception data is counted, this value is compared with the received block check character CK1, and if they are coincident, it is discriminated that no missing is present in the received data block.
