Abstract

PURPOSE:To ensure the accurate setting for the operation mode of a copying machine, by displaying an image information data of an original which is obtained from a preliminary scan for the automatic setting of the operation mode of the copying machine and utilizing the information data for the manual setting. CONSTITUTION:When a preliminary scan is given to an original 3 via an exposure lamp 8, the light of an exposed image is received at a photosensor 15. Then the original image information data is supplied to a control circuit CC via a switching circuit 21, a peak holding circuit 22 and an A/D converter 22. Thus the control data of an erasing lamp 13, the light volume control data of the lamp 8 for copying, and others are decided at an arithmetic part of the circuit CC and according to the size of an original. Then the operation mode of a copying machine is automatically set according to the original. On the other hand, in the manual mode, the original image information data obtained via a converter 23 and the circuit CC and in the preliminary scan mode is displayed by a display device corresponding to an operation part 71. As a result, the accurate manual setting is possible in the copying operation mode.
