Abstract

PURPOSE:To select a copy density accurately with one operation when the copy density is set manually, by providing an indicator where the copy density adjusted automatically in accordance with the density of an original to be copied is displayed and allowing an operator to recognize the correspondence between the original and the copy density. CONSTITUTION:An optical sensor 15 is provided on a blocker of a lens 8 as the sensor which detects the original density during dummy scanning before the copy scan cycle for the original at an automatic copy density adjustment time. The optical sensor 15 converts the quantity of light to a voltage, and the photoelectric conversion output is given to an A/D converter 17 through an interface 16 and is converted to a digital signal and is given to a central processing unit CPU18 as data indicating the original density. The CPU18 gives a control signal to a developing bias control circuit 19 of a developing device 11 to adjust automatically the copy density in accordance with the original density detected beforehand by dummy scanning. A control signal is given to a display device 20 to display the copy density corresponding to the original density, and the operator recognizes the correspondence between the original and the copy density.

Conventionally, when making copies of originals using a copier, the copy density setting has to be adjusted manually by the operator, or
Alternatively, in cases where an automatic copy density adjustment function is provided, the copy density is automatically adjusted to an appropriate copy density. This automatic density adjustment method involves performing a blank scan of the original before the normal copying cycle for the original, detecting the density of the original to be copied, and adjusting the bias voltage of the developer or the exposure amount of the exposure lamp. Some copiers use this method to automatically adjust the copy density by controlling factors that can vary the copy density, but in automatic detection mode, the density of the original is determined by a blank scan of the original. Although it is not as troublesome as when the operator manually sets the copy density, additional time is required due to the empty scan, and copy ejection is delayed. On the other hand, while this is not the case with manual operation, it is difficult for the operator to obtain the desired copy density in one go, and in some cases, the operator may end up wasting 213 copies to obtain the appropriate copy density. .

Furthermore, as mentioned above, when performing an automatic copy operation in which the copy density is automatically adjusted and the copies are ejected, the operator may wonder whether the automatic adjustment function is actually working or not.
There was also a feeling of anxiety, wondering what kind of density the copies would come out with.

[Means and effects for solving the problems] This invention has the following features:
For this reason, in the case of automatic copy density adjustment, a display device is provided that displays the automatically adjusted copy density corresponding to the density of the original to be copied, thereby making the operator aware of the correspondence between the original and copy density. By using this display, even when manually setting the copy density, it is possible to accurately select the copy density in one go.

As shown in Figure 3, this display (4) consists of a plurality of display lamps (C) installed on the console (C) of the copying machine. When the density of the original is automatically read using the optical sensor (151) and the copy density is automatically adjusted, the copy density corresponding to the density of the original is displayed in stages when reading the original density and during the copy cycle, so that the operator can It is possible to recognize the correspondence between original and copy density. In addition, in this example, the display (4) is as follows.
It also serves as a display that displays the copy density when the operator manually sets the copy density by operating the copy density selection switch (a). In this way, it is desirable to have the copy density display also used when setting manually, but of course this does not preclude the provision of a dedicated display (20+).In this embodiment, The second CPU (lft) is Intel's 8085, and a programmable one.

According to the apparatus of the above embodiment, in a copying machine that automatically detects the density of a document to be copied and automatically adjusts the copy density, the density of the document that has been blank scanned once in advance is adjusted by A/D converter ( CPU (1g+) by 171
The D/A converter (A) controls the bias voltage of the developer (11) during the next copy scan cycle, while the CPU (programmable from 181) and keyboard/display interface communicate with the display (20). A control signal for displaying the copy density is sent to the printer, and as shown in Figure 8, the display of the copy density in stages corresponding to the density of the original is performed even during automatic copy density adjustment copying, allowing the operator to recognize the correspondence between the density of the original and the copy. can be done. Therefore, the operator does not have to worry about what kind of copy will come out due to the fact that the copy density is not displayed at the same time as in the case of automatic copy density adjustment copying as in the past, and the above-mentioned It is possible to give the operator a sense of security by displaying the following even during automatic copying operations, and not only this, but also the advantages of automatic copy density adjustment and the advantages of manually setting the copy density. It can also be used effectively to shorten copying time. In other words, when making copies from multiple originals, first adjust the copy density using automatic copy density adjustment, and when the above-mentioned display displays the copy density, the operator can use this to determine the appropriate copy density. Therefore, from now on, you can set the copy density manually by operating the copy density selection switch) to achieve the displayed copy density. It is not necessary to take extra time for each document due to the above-mentioned blank scan, and even in the case of manual setting, it is possible to select an appropriate copy density in one time. In this way, copying work from a plurality of originals can be performed in manual mode and with a single selection operation, thereby reducing one hour of copying time. In addition, as in this embodiment, if the density display is also used when the copy density is set manually, and the copy density is displayed at the same time as the copy density is automatically adjusted, an even simpler configuration can be achieved. Another advantage is that it can be done.

As described above, the present invention can display the copy density corresponding to the original density even during automatic copy density adjustment, so the operator can be made aware of the correspondence between the original and copy density, and the operator can feel secure. Even if a blank scan of the original is performed for automatic copy density adjustment, it is possible to reduce work time by taking advantage of the features of both automatic adjustment and manual setting. It has the advantage that it can also be used.
