Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the appearance, rust prevention and strength of bound parts by bringing resin coated members in abutment on each other, bringing a welding electrode into contact with one of these members and an auxiliary electrode into contact with the other member and subjecting these to resistance welding. CONSTITUTION:A steel member 1 coated with a resin 9 on the outside surfaces is fitted to a welding electrode body, by which electrode bodies 5a and 5b are brought into contact with the rear surface in the prescribed position. An auxiliary electrode body 6 is inserted into the other coated steel member 2 placed on the member 1 so that auxiliary electrodes 7a, 7b are brought into contact with the rear surface of the member 2 opposite to the electrodes 5a, 5b. While the pressure in the opposite directions is exerted between the electrodes 7a, 7b and 5a, 5b, electricity is conducted between welding electrode plates 3a and 3b. The member 1 is heated by this, and by the effect thereof, the resin 9 softens then the resin 9' of the member 2 solftens. These resins 9, 9' are expelled when pressurized, thus allowing the members 1, 2 to contact. By this contacting, resistance heat is evolved and the contacting and conducting parts of the members 1, 2 are bound.
