Abstract
PURPOSE:To eliminate slag-side erosion produced in a direct charging molten iron ladle completely and to prevent exfoliation of bricks by coating refractory mortar charged with graphite on the top surfaces of the bricks in the part upper than the boundary part of the molten iron and molten slag of said ladle. CONSTITUTION:To repair a ladle, fresh refractory mortar 4 charged with a required amt. of graphite is coated on the refractory bricks 3 in the boundary part between the molten iron 6 and molten slag 7 in a ladle 5 including, so- called slag-side. However, in coating a runner, the residual iron just prior to solidifiction sticks on the runner and if this is removed, the entire part of the coating material is peeled and therefore no mortar 4 is coated on the runner. The slag-side erosion that may occur in a direct charging molten iron ladle is completely eliminated and the repairing of the ladle is reduced considerably.
