Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the difference of temperature of winding, and to reduce peeling off of an insulating layer of winding of an electric rotary machine by a method wherein a pressure regulating valve to regulate pressure of cooling gas to be blown out from gas cylinders is regulated corresponding to the temperature of the generator winding. CONSTITUTION:When cooling gas is to be supplied to the generator 1 through the pressure regulating valve 3 for regulation of blowing pressure from the gas cylinders 2 sealed in with cooling gas, a temperature sensor 6 is equipped to the winding 5 of the generator 1. Output of the sensor 6 thereof is inputted into a temperature/pressure converter 7, and opening of the pressure regulating valve 3 is controlled corresponding to the temperature of the winding 5. Accordingly because the temperature of the winding 5 can be held at a constant always, thermal expansion and contraction can be suppressed, and damage of the insulating layer of winding can be prevented.
