Abstract
PURPOSE:To ensure the stable transmission properties for a long period of time, by providing the twist steel wires with the twisting directions opposite to each other between the inner and outer layers and at the outside a pressure pipe that protects an optical fiber unit. CONSTITUTION:A metallic pressure pipe 2 is provided around an optical fiber unit 1 to protect the optical fiber. A twist steel wire 3 for outer layer is set at the outer circumference of the pipe 2, and another twist steel wire 4 having the twisting direction opposite to the wire 3 is set at the outside of the wire 3. A soft plastic layer 5 is provided as an elastic material layer at the outside of the wire 4. In addition, a plastic sheath layer 6 of low density and another plastic sheath layer 7 of high density are formed by the injection molding or the like process. As a result, the extension of a cable can be minimized, and the stable transmission properties is secured for a long period of time.
