Abstract

PURPOSE:To correct an inclinating strain caused by the scanning movement of a carriage even for large and small printing letters by altering voltages to be applied to a correcting electrode according to the sizes of the printing letters. CONSTITUTION:A relay switch 6 is provided, and when a large letter printing signal (LSC=''1'') comes, the relay switch 6 is actuated to make the potential of the correcting electrode 3 zero (0), whereby asymmetric electric field is intensified for correcting an inclinating strain encountered during the printing period of large letters. On the other hand, when small letter printing signal (LSC=''0'') comes, the relay switch 6 it turned into OFF and a negative potential is applied to the correcting electrode 3, whereby asymmetric electric field is weakened so as to lessen the corresponding portion of inclinating strain to be corrected for correcting the inclinating strain during the printing period of small letters. Thus, the printing of small or large letters can be attained without any inclinating strain by such a simplified system.
