Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the use of the same position of a carbon ribbon by advancing the ribbon by a given distance when power source is switched in a typewriter in which the carbon ribbon is used by displacing it cyclically in the widthwise direction.
CONSTITUTION: A carbon ribbon 5 is used in such a manner that it is displaced three-stepwise in the widthwise direction, advanced by as much a distance as 1/3 letter by an advancing pulse motor, and printed at the positions of (a), (b), (c), etc. When the switch 3a of a power source 3 is turned OFF, an information of a ribbon position indicating means 2a in an electromic control circuit 2 is erased, but when the switch 3a is turned ON, an initiating means 2c sends forth a signal to the advancing pulse motor of the carbon ribbon driver 4a, whereby the ribbon 5 is advanced by two steps (corresponding to 2/3 a letter) and the first step of the ribbon 5 is positioned at a printing place. Thus, the printing portion is transferred of (f) and therefore, the lapped use of the printing position on the previous one can be avoided.
