Abstract

PURPOSE:To dispense with the installation of a cross member and reduce the weight of a vehicle body with a part fitted with a lateral rod, by using a bead to reinforce the floor of the vehicle body and conjoining a rod support to the bead. CONSTITUTION:A floor 2 including a spare tire housing 6 is provided between both rear side members 3 located over a lateral rod 1. The housing 6, which is transversely made of a bottom 7 and a side wall 8, is provided with a bead 9 of groove- shaped cross section. A rod support 5 is appropriately conjoined to one rear side member 3 sandwiching both the outside surfaces 10 of the bead 9. Horizontal load from the rod 1 is transmitted to the side members 3 and to the floor 2 through the bead 9 so that the load of a vehicle body is effectively dispersed. According to this constitution, the weight of the vehicle body is reduced and a process for assembling a cross member is not needed.
