Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the cost of a tire without losing its properties, by providing a side cover layer which is integrated with a chafer and extends at least to a tread rubber layer.
CONSTITUTION: Carcass plies 8 are laminated together as four layers and wound upward at a bead portion 11 which has a bead wire 10 so that the outer carcass plies 8 cover their wound ends 9. An inner liner 7 is provided on the innermost carcass ply 8 so that the liner extends from the upper part of the inside of one beam portion 11 to that of the other. A chafer 5, which is bonded to cover the lower part of the inner liner 7 and surrounds the bead portion 11, is covered with a thin side layer 6 which is integrated with the chafer 5 and extends from a side wall portion 3 to the end of a trad 1. A tread rubber layer 1a is provided on the carcass plies 8 so that the rubber layer extends from the upper end of one side cover layer 6 to that of the other.
