Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain improved heat recovery and power generating efficiencies by a method wherein a sulfur oxide produced by partial or complete oxidation of coal is fixed and removed by carbonate while the desulfurizing performance of used carbonate is regenerated by a part of the produced gas. CONSTITUTION:Coal is partially oxidized in a partial oxidizing zone A. Then, the gas produced in the oxidizing zone A rises to a completely oxidizing zone B where it is burnt perfectly. Further, the combustion gas is allowed to pass through a first reaction zone in which CaO is added as a desulfurizing agent so as to fix and remove sulfur oxides (SOx). CaSO4 produced by the conversion of oxides in the first reaction zone is supplied to a second reaction zone where it is converted into CaS. Here, CO and H2 gases produced in the partial oxidizing zone A are supplied through a conduit 41 into the second reaction zone. CaS produced in the second reaction zone is supplied into a third reaction zone where it is converted into CaO so that the desulfurizing capability is regenerated.
