Abstract
PURPOSE:To control temps. while extending the life of refractories near the slag surface and preventing the temp. drop of molten steel by flowing high frequency electric current and cooling water to and in a metallic pipe buried like a coil in the refractories provided on the inside surface of a ladle from the position above the slag surface to the position below the molten steel surface. CONSTITUTION:A copper pipe 8 is buried like a coil in the refractories 3 provided on the inside surface of a shell 2 of a ladle 1 from the position above the slag surface 7 to the position below the molten steel surface 5. Arrangement is so made that high frequency electric current is flowed to the pipe 8 and cooling water to the inside thereof. As a result, the refractories 3 near the surface 7 are cooled by the cooling water flowing in the pipe 8 and therefore the erosion of the pipe 8 and the refractories 3 is suppressed. It is possible to replenish the heat of the molten steel 4 and slag 6 which are cooled slightly by the cooling water flowing in the pipe 8 by the induction heating of the high frequency current flowing in the pipe 8.
