Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove impurities from a viscoelastic substance without reducing yarn viscosity or without adding a new viscoelastic substance by kneading the viscoelastic substance containing impurities under high shearing force.
CONSTITUTION: Oil sand is introduced into a kneader and kneaded at about 20W60°C and 30 rpm. When oil sand is formed into a relatively uniform viscoelastic layer in an early stage, water is added to and mixed in said layer to separate the same into an upper froth (blackish oily substance) layer with water content of about 50W85%, an intermediate dark gray suspension layer constituted from fine oil droplets clay and a lower white sand layer. Said froth layer and the suspension layer are added to bitumen preliminarily kneaded in a kneader at about 20W30°C and 30 rpm to be kneaded therewith. An oil component is occluded to the bitumen layer and separated water is reused.
