Abstract

PURPOSE:To separate solids efficiently from a high viscosity substance by filtering the substance in the presence of a solvent in the vicinity of critical point. CONSTITUTION:A solvent in the vicinity of critical point, or a solvent with the temperature (absolute temperature) in the range of 0.9-1 against its critical temperature Tc (absolute temperature) and under the pressure condition to be enough to liquefy said solvent in said temperature, or else an supercritical solvent is added to a high viscosity substance such as polymer, pitch petroleum residue or the like containing solids, to lower the viscosity of said high viscosity substance and to separate solids from said high viscosity substance easily by filtration. As a result, solids can be separated efficiently out of said high viscosity substance.
