Abstract

PURPOSE:To cover a long probing distance in a narrow section and provide a driving device that is small, light and essy to carry and to handle by making rotatable the defect probing arm. CONSTITUTION:A probe 9 is mounted by one action on a probe holder 11 that has a pressing mechanism 16. The holder 11 can run automatically back and forth on a running guuide 12 by rotating a lead screw 17 by means of a probe driving section 13. On a frame 14 that supports the guide 12 and the driving section 13 the connecting section 15 of a main body 1 is fixed. The connecting section 15 is fixed on the main body 1 with one touch by means of a pin 8, and it can be fixed the same when the probe arm 7 is reversed by 180 deg.. The probe arm 7 is automatically run in the direction perpendicular to the welding line 6 of the lower end plate of vessel with the probe 9 touching an object 10 to be inspected, and the medium for the touch is supplied between the probe 9 and the object 10 through a water supply pipe 23.
