Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect automatically with high accuracy the state of seizure in machining with the work being spinned by judging the seizure level from AE RMS voltage and speed of sliding between a tool and a work. CONSTITUTION:A main shaft rotation detection section 8 detects rotational speed round the shaft of a mandrel 5 and a tool position detection section 9 measures the distance between the main shaft of the mandrel 5 and the contact point of a tool 7. A sliding speed calculation section 10 calulates the sliding speed of the tool relative to the machining face of a work 15 from the rotational speed of the main shaft and the position of the tool 7. An AE sensor 11 that is derectly attached to the side face of the tool 7 converts ultrasonic wave that is generated by slding machining of the tool 7 with the work 15 into electric signal, and this signal is amplified by a pre-amplifier to measure 13 the RMS voltage of AE. A seizure level calculation and judgement section 14 judge machining conditions by the data from the sliding speed calculation section 10 and the AW RMS voltage measuring section 13.
