Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the adjusting of a movable valve mechanism and to enable the exchanging operation, by employing a hydraulic adjuster in the movable valve mechanism of an engine having a valve stopping mechanism and stopping the oil supply to the adjuster by means of a stopper valve under the stopping state of the valve. CONSTITUTION:Under the heavy load operation of the engine, an electromagnetic solenoid 49 will not function thereby a stopping valve 48 will not block the flow of the lubrication oil. Consequently the oil in the lubrication oil main path 46 will flow into the hydraulic adjuster 40 thus to function on the bottom face of the plunger 42, and to actuate the plunger 42 together with a spring 41 upward thereby the plunger 42 will push up an arm swing 9 thus to adjust such that the gap at the contacting position between a nail 13 and a projection 12 provided on a cap 11 of a valve 5 will be minute. Consequently the inspection and the adjustment of the gap can be eliminated. While under the light load operation, a controller 30 will excite the solenoid 49 to function the stopper valve 48 thus to stop the oil supply to the hydraulic adjuster 40 thereby a gap is formed between the nail 13 and the projection 12 thus to enable the exchanging operation by means of a valve stopping mechanism.
