Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent oil from draining after the stoppage of an engine, by providing a partition plate for an oil tappet having almost the same structure as that of a vertical internal combustion engine. CONSTITUTION:A partition plate 28 provided with communication holes 29 in the peripheral part along almost the total circumference is installed between a ball check valve 20 and an oil hole in the oil chamber 19 of a plunger 16. A hole closing plate 30, which can shut off at least half of the communication holes 29 of the partition plate 28, is provided at one side of the plate so that the closing plate 30 is always located in a lower position although the plunger 16 moves while it rotates to some uncertain position. According to this constitution, oil surely remains filled in at least half part of the oil chamber 19 of the plunger 16 even after the stoppage of the engine.
