PURPOSE:To perform magnetic recording of short wavelength, by locating main magnetic poles at almost equal angular intervals circumferentially, rotating them in a prescribed rotating speed and arranging an auxiliary magnetic pole along the rotating locus of the main magnetic poles through clipping a magnetic recording medium. CONSTITUTION:A main magnetic pole 1 is respectively fixed to rotating arms 8a-8c at the lower tip arranged at almost equal angular intervals circumferentially. On the other hand, an auxiliary magnetic pole 4 is arranged by clipping a magnetic recording medium 6 in opposition, the shape is a circular arc and corresponds to the rotating locus of the main magnetic poles 1. When the rotating arms 8a-8c are rotated, the main magnetic pole 1 turns in circular arc from one end to another end of the medium 6, and when the main magnetic pole 1 passes through the other end, the next main magnetic pole 1 opposes to one end of the medium 6. Similarly, the main magnetic poles 1 sequentially pass through along the surface of the medium 6 to form vertical magnetic recording tracks in circular arc with a specified pitch to the magnetic substance layer of the medium 6.
