Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a high catalytic activity, by employing as a catalyst a combination of an Al compound represented by a specified formula and a catalytic component prepared by supporting a complex of a Co halide and an electron-donating compound on an inorganic carrier consisting of an oxide of a Group IIa, IIIa, IVa or IVb metal of the periodic table.
CONSTITUTION: Component A is a catalytic component prepared by supporting a complex or mixture of a Co halide and an electrondonating compound, such as a 1W12C amine, nitrile or triphenyl phosphine, on an inorganic carrier consisting of an oxide of a Group IIa, IIIa, IVa or IVb metal of the Demming's periodic table. Component B is an Al compound represented by the formula, where R is a 1W12C hydrocarbon, X is H, a halogen atom or a 1W12C alkoxy group and 1≤ n≤3. A conjugated diene polymer is produced by contacting a conjugated diene with components A and B.
