Abstract

PURPOSE:To realize an automatic control of the height of a head to the optimum position, by making a memory store the value of the control signal which is applied to a head moving mechanism substantially capable of eliminating the shift of the relative height positions of plural rotary heads. CONSTITUTION:Two rotary heads (not shown in the diagram) having different azimuth angles are attached opposed to each other at a rotary drum 12, and receive a displacement in the direction orthogonal to the rotating face of the rotary head by a head moving mechanism (not shown in the diagram). The signal reproduced by the rotary head is supplied to a control circuit 28 after an A/D conversion 27 via a preamplifier 23, a high pass filter 25 and a level detector 26. The circuit 28 delivers the control digital signal to the head moving mechanism for calculation of the relative height positions by the input digital signal based on the reproduction output level of each rotary head. Thus a memory 30 stores the control voltage value of the optimum height position. The signal sent from the circuit 28 is applied to the head moving mechanism after a D/A conversion 31.
