Abstract

PURPOSE:To cancel crosstalk, by connecting a main head and a dummy head in series and reversing a magnetic coupling between the main heads and that between the dymmy heads, in a multichannel VTR recording and reproducing a broad band video signal. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of recording tracks by signal sources S1, S2, S3 and S4 are formed on a magnetic tape with main head chips H1, H2, H3 and H4 fitted to a terminal of a terminal board respectively and a plurality of signals are reproduced at reproduction. Dummy head chips H'1, H'2, H'3 and H'4 are provided in series with the main head chips equivalent and the height is adjusted so that the magnetic coupling relation between the heads is reversed with that of the main heads to cancel the crosstalk between adjacent magnetic heads. Thus, the head chips can be located more closely, allowing to provide advantageous features for high density recording and signal missing prevention.
