Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase the combustion efficiency of an engine, by sucking and compressing liquid fuel sticking to an intake passage by means of a pump, and ejecting the liquid fuel into a combustion chamber from a subsidiary intake valve so that rich air-fuel mixture can be formed near an ignition plug. CONSTITUTION:Liquid fuel sticking to the inner wall surface of an intake passage extending from a carburetor 1 to the combustion chamber 18 of an engine flows downward by its own weight and is collected at the bottom 6 of an intake manifold 5. The liquid fuel thus collected at the bottom 6 is sucked and compressed by a pump 7 and supplied to a subsidiary intake valve 16 in the combustion chamber 18 via an outlet passage 11, restriction 12 and distributing section 14. Then, the liquid fuel is ejected into the combustion chamber 18 from a port 17 of the subsidiary intake valve 16. Here, the direction of the port 17 is so selected that rich mixture is supplied to a mixture collecting part 21 formed at the top of a piston 20. With such an arrangement, rich mixture is supplied to the area near an ignition plug 24 while lean mixture is supplied to the area around the ignition plug 24, so that mixture can be burnt efficiently.
